Everton fans take aim at Theo Walcott vs Man City

Everton vs Manchester City

Manchester City travelled to Everton on Wednesday as they looked to go top of the table.

1st place Liverpool have now drawn back-to-back league games vs Leicester City and West Ham.

As a result, Man City were just three points behind Liverpool heading into the Everton game.

Given City’s superior goal difference, Pep Guardiola’s side would leapfrog Liverpool with a win over Everton.

Everton, on the other hand, have not been in the best form recently, losing three of their last five league games.

They were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Millwall.

Walcott’s poor first-half vs Man City

Despite their recent poor form, Everton did not have the worst start vs Manchester City.

Granted, City did have a few chances with Ilkay Gundogan hitting the bar from close range.

However, Everton would largely hold their own during the opening exchanges.

But there was one Everton player who did not enjoy a good first 45.

With City being so dangerous on the wings, especially down the side of Leroy Sane and David Silva, you would have expected Walcott to track back and help out.

The winger did not do this well and it was from Walcott’s flank which the Gundogan chance came from.

Walcott was also singled out for his poor crossing.

City would eventually take a 1-0 lead on the stroke of half-time.

Social media reaction

As a result, some Everton fans have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure at Walcott.
