Everton fans split on Jordan Pickford fee

Everton & Jordan Pickford

One of the big transfer rumours of the day on Tuesday links Everton and Sunderland.

Now in the Championship after a dire season in the Premier League, Sunderland’s best players are heading for the exit door at the Stadium of Light.

Jermain Defoe is heading to Bournemouth, while the Telegraph are reporting that Everton are closing in on Black Cats goalie Jordan Pickford.

What’s the story?

The Telegraph have told their readers the following:

Everton are close to agreeing a deal worth £30 million for Sunderland’s England under-21 international Jordan Pickford.

Negotiations have progressed between the two clubs over the past 24 hours and Everton are growing increasingly confident of signing the highly-regarded goalkeeper this month.

Fans split over fee

There seems little doubt that Pickford is a promising keeper.

An England international, many are tipping the goalie for big things in his career.

But some Everton fans have taken to social media to complain about the amount of the transfer fee.

Is £30 million too much?

On the bright side, Everton are set to have plenty of money to spend this summer as Romelu Lukaku could leave for £100 million, while rumours are ongoing that Ross Barkley is heading for the Goodison Park exit door too.
