Everton supporters have taken to Twitter to express their anger towards Craig Pawson’s decision not to send off Fabian Delph.
The 29-year-old produced a rash tackle on Dominic Calvert-Lewin which saw him only booked.
Manchester City returned to the top of the league after comfortably seeing off the Toffees at the Etihad this afternoon.
Delph escapes red card for tackle on Calvert-Lewin
Replays show that Delph caught Calvert-Lewin with a nasty-looking challenge, with his studs catch the young forward’s shin.
The incident took place in the 77th-minute after the whistle had been blown for an earlier foul.
Whilst the 21-year-old has stopped, Delph continued to lunge in for the tackle and caught the Everton man.
Both players were booked following Calvert-Lewin coming to blows with Delph after the tackle.
Speaking about the incident, Calvert-Lewin told Sky Sports:
“Did it get a bit nasty towards the end? It did yeah. But it’s to be expected.
“We’re fighting for the result and that’s what we’ve come here to do so it’s bound to get a bit physical.
“Obviously me and Fabian shook hands after the game as you do.
“But it’s bound to get like that.”
Everton fans furious over Delph decision
@plreferees @premierleague @FA only a yellow that lads! We have had Craig Pawson 3 times this season and he has got major decisions wrong every time. Absolute shambles and shows the bias towards the top sides! You lot are so corrupt it’s embarrassing. Leg breaking tackle pic.twitter.com/lqg3NEheCp

Weird how the ref took Delph’s red card, divided it into 2 and gave half each to Delph and Calvert-Lewin. Didn’t know you could do that. #EFF

So another week & another challenge, City deserve 2 win so I’m not going there. However Jags challenge = Red, Van Dijk = Shouldn’t b a yellow then Delph on DCL, it’s way after whistle & should b red but instead both r booked🤔🤔 #MediaFavourites

Delph challenge was a nasty, dirty one and clearly a red card, commentators hardly mention it, how on earth has he got away with that?! Be interesting to see if the pundits pick it up after or just praise Pep yet again… #EFC #MCFC #SkySports
