Everton dealt injury blow during Manchester City clash

Everton have been dealt a blow on the personnel front during their meeting with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City vs Everton

Today’s early Premier League kick-off would see Manchester City play host to Everton.

The Sky Blues headed into the game having slipped down to 3rd in the Premier League table, owing to results elsewhere on Saturday.

However, Pep Guardiola and co. are aware that they will climb back into 2nd, and to within three points of Chelsea with a win against the Toffees, an outcome which looked likely prior to kick-off amid Everton’s dire recent spell of form.

And Manchester City, in turn, have since started the tie on top, though they have been unable to break the deadlock at the time of writing.

Everton’s Demarai Gray injured vs Everton

But whilst Everton have been able to hold their own so far against City, the Merseysiders have been dealt a blow during the clash.

This came when Demarai Gray pulled up after 17 minutes, and had to be replaced by Alex Iwobi:

Gray has been one of Everton’s better players so far this term, meaning losing him for any significant amount of time would mark a big blow for Rafael Benitez and co. – especially given the fact that they also have key stars Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure currently sidelined with injuries.

The Blues’ next clash comes this time next week against Brentford, with the club no doubt praying that Gray will be fit in time to feature.
