Everton dealt double injury blow as manager protests continue & Frank Lampard latest

Everton have had a torrid time on the injury front this season, and it has continued through this winter break.

This comes as both Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph have been ruled out of action for a minimum of 4 weeks following injuries.

Doucoure was forced off against Aston Villa with a groin issue, while Delph is suffering from a hamstring injury.

It comes as Everton seemingly lurch from crisis to crisis, with vastly unpopular manager Rafa Benitez sacked following a run of awful results that have left the Toffees sitting just above the relegation zone.

Who will take over full-time?

Duncan Ferguson doesn’t seem the preferred candidate to take the Everton job full time, and after a frankly shocking interview with Vitor Pereira aired live on Sky Sports on Wednesday, he is seemingly also out of the running following fan backlash.

This comes as Frank Lampard is set for his second interview to potentially take charge. The Englishman’s last managerial stint came to an end 12 months ago, when he was sacked by Chelsea, leaving the club in 9th in the Premier League.

The Blues subsequently lifted the Champions League under new boss Thomas Tuchel, but Lampard could now be set for a return to the Premier League with the Toffees.
