Everton only club to submit big money bid for European striker

Forward reinforcements

Everton are reportedly the only club to submit an offer for Benfica forward Raúl Jiménez as the Portuguese side hold out for around €50m.

The bid that the Toffees have submitted is said to be in the region of €25m according to Record, cited by Sports Witness, and it is unlikely that the club would be willing to pay even close to Benfica’s asking price.

It is said that Benfica have already knocked back an offer from one club, which was thought to be around €45m but some suggest this could be a ploy by the Portuguese giants to get Everton to pay up.

The Toffees are well in need of a striker as we approach the final of weeks in the transfer window but all their targets are slowly fading.

The club initially wanted to sign Olivier Giroud but he decided to stay at Arsenal while a move for Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke was also a no go.

The club then seemingly moved for Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic as their next target with a tall front man clearly the theme.

That also did not go to plan with the player now set to join AC Milan in the coming days.

It could be Jimenez or bust for the Blues.

Or could it?

While the chances of signing a striker are seemingly fading for Everton, one top class name is beginning to pop up.

That is the name of Diego Costa who is currently in the middle of a saga between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

The Spaniard wants to move back to the capital club but Chelsea are making life difficult for him after he refused to return to the club.

Costa is currently still in Brazil and refuses to return until the club finalises a move away for him.

Though, that is not as easy as it sounds with Costa revealing Chelsea are asking too much money for him, so much so that Atletico cannot afford it.

Everton are certainly looking to get in on the action and could sign the player.
