Everton close in on two major summer signings

Jordan Pickford & Daavy Klaassen

Everton are making significant moves in the summer transfer market, as Ronald Koeman looks to bridge the gap with the top six in the Premier League.

On Tuesday, Sky Sports report that Sunderland and Everton have agreed a 30 million pound fee for Jordan Pickford.

Besides Jermaine Defoe, Pickford was undoubtedly Sunderland’s stand out player in a woeful season as David Moyes’ side were relegated.

Pickford: Everton’s new number one

Everton fans are already wondering whether they are paying too much money for Pickford, but he does solve a problem position for the Toffees.

Joel Robles was far from secure in the Everton goal last season and Pickford is undoubtedly a significant improvement.

Whilst Pickford is set to be Everton’s first signing of the summer, the England goalkeeper will be swiftly followed by Ajax captain Davy Klaassen, who has constantly been linked with the Toffees in recent weeks.

Davy Klaassen’s arrival now a matter of time

On Tuesday, reliable Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf report that it is now a matter of time before Davy Klaassen signs for Everton.

They reveal that Everton have 100 million euros available to spend this summer. Presumably that does not include any money from players leaving, such as Romelu Lukaku.

Everton are already confident of Klaassen’s arrival and are delighted to capture one of Ajax’s best players.

Klaassen in, Barkley out?

De Teelgraaf add that Everton will not stop signing players once Klaassen arrives as their owners know that to bridge the gap on the top six they have to strengthen further.

The Toffees are also expected to sign Malaga striker Sandro, who will likely replace Romelu Lukaku.

And, Klaassen’s arrival will likely signal the departure of Ross Barkley.

This could be an exciting summer to be an Everton fan.
