Everton ‘very close’ to signing former Arsenal man

Everton are ‘very close’ to signing a former Arsenal star ahead of the summer transfer window with the Toffees looking to change their recent fortunes.

The Goodison side have been in the headlines for a number of days now and for various reasons.

Though, there is another report today that suggests Everton are close to their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Despite the window only opening in June, the club is looking to secure a pre-contract agreement with a player that will be available on a bosman.

That player comes in the form of former Arsenal youngster Oğuzhan Özyakup.

The midfielder looks set to leave Besiktas this summer and has had a host of clubs interested in signing him.

Arsenal have been linked with a move to bring him back to the Emirates, while West Ham and Valencia have also been mooted as destinations.

Following in Tosun’s footsteps

The Turkish report suggests that Ozyakup has chosen Arsenal and that he wants to follow in the footsteps of Cenk Tosun who left Besiktas for Everton in January.

Talks between the player and Everton have also supposedly went positively and one member in the deal has suggested that it will all become clearer in two weeks time.

That could be when an agreement is reached and we could see Ozyakup arrive at Goodison in June.

It’s also worth noting that the report claims there is over a 50% chance that Ozyakup will join Everton this summer.

Everton to sign PSV’s Marcel Brands

While moves are being made early, it might not be Steve Walsh and Sam Allardyce making them.

That is because the club have supposedly reached a deal for a new director of football.

That man comes in the form of Marcel Brands of PSV.
