On the move
Everton are said to be close to completing a move for one of Manchester City’s stars whose place in the side could be under threat after recent signings.
That player comes in the form of central defender Eliaquim Mangala who now sees himself far down the pecking order at the Etihad.
The Frenchman has played a little bit recently due to Vincent Kompany’s injury and has even impressed.
Though, he was hit with the news this week that the club have signed Aymeric Laporte for an incredible club record fee of £57m.
That means that the player will almost certainly be a starter in the side that already has players such as Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and Kompany.
Safe to say, that spells the end for Mangala’s future and it looks as though Everton are set to hand him a Premier League lifeline.
Everton have struggled both defensively and offensively this season.
The Toffees are real candidates to get relegated having conceded more goals that even strugglers Swansea.
Though, having signed Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott, they hope to have sorted the attacking woes.
Now, they have moved for Mangala to sort the defensive side with a loan deal until the end of the season close to competition according to the Telegraph.
Not only that, the club will seemingly have an option to buy at the end of the campaign.
It could prove to be shrewd business from Everton and Sam Allardyce.
Mangala’s loan move to Everton is almost done and is now likely to include a provision to make the deal permanent in the summer. [Telegraph]
