Everton are set to complete the signing of Arsenal star Theo Walcott in a £20million deal today but some claim the Toffees are getting a bargain.
The Englishman has had to play a role off the bench this season despite scoring 19 goals in all competitions last campaign.
The player has never fully fulfilled his potential but his goal record of 108 goals, the majority coming from the wing, is nothing to scoff at.
Now, Sam Allardyce is looking to get the players career back in track and ensure he sees the best years of his career at the top.
Though, some suggest Arsenal have let the player leave far too cheaply, one being former Gillingham, Chelsea and Celtic man Tony Cascarino.
“At £20million the Everton manager will think he has a bargain — in the form of last season Walcott would be worth double that,” he explained.
“All forward lines are mobile now and Walcott could be deadly as part of a front three at Everton, playing on the shoulder of defenders, interchanging positions with Cenk Tosun and Yannick Bolasie.
“Don’t be surprised if he shows Wenger what could have been.
“Wenger rightly gets praise for transforming Arsenal in the late Nineties and the brilliance of his Invincibles team but I don’t think that he’s very good at developing young players.
“He has been unfortunate with injuries, including rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament midway through the 2013-14 season, but last season showed his ability.
“Nineteen goals from 41 games is a good return from a striker, never mind someone playing on the right wing.
“I don’t think that Wenger has moulded him nor had a much positive impact on the career of someone that he signed aged 16.
Newcastle nightmare: Emre warns Everton’s Cenk Tosun about Big Sam
While Sam Allardyce is looking to bring in some attacking threat, will he change his ways?
One former Newcastle star has warned Everton’s latest signing Cenk Tosun of the manager’s tactics.
Safe to say, he wasn’t very complimentary.
