Everton take on Crystal Palace on Sunday. Ahead of the game, Marco Silva has been stressing the importance of having a solid home record.
‘It is important for us to achieve another result at our stadium’
Speaking ahead of Palace, Silva stated:
“It is something [a strong home record] I really want and something the players want as well.
“And, of course, our fans, too.
“We started the season really well at home, in the Southampton match [2-1 win].
“We did not achieve what we wanted in the next two matches [draw with Huddersfield Town and defeat to West Ham United] which took some confidence from the players.
“But the last game at home, in the second half we performed the right way and achieved a good result.
“It is important for us to achieve another result at our stadium and to get the third win in a row is also really important for us.
“The Leicester result has a bigger impact if you then get three points at home.”
Silva also commented upon Everton’s upcoming opponents, Crystal Palace:
“We have to respect our opponent, it will be a tough game.
“It is normal for opponents to come here and respect our squad and team.
“We know we are dangerous if they do not a good defensive job. We have to play in our way, in some moments we have to have the patience to find the right spaces and direction to attack.
“We have to be strong not just with the ball, but without the ball.
“We can press our opponents and win the ball in the middle and take advantage when they are not in a good shape.
“They [Palace] are strong in their offensive organisation and on the counter attack, they have quality players in their forward line.”
Everton vs Crystal Palace
Everton come into the game with Crystal Palace 11th in the table.
The Toffees have won three, drawn three and lost two this season in the league.
Everton are also on a decent run of form. They have picked up back-to-back wins in the league with the latest coming against Leicester City.
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, come into Sunday’s game 14th in the league.
Palace are not in great form. Their last three games have seen them draw one and lost two.
Palace may also be without star forward Wilfried Zaha for Sunday’s game after he picked up an injury on international duty.
