Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti confirms Jordan Pickford & Allan will miss Leeds game

Pickford to miss Leeds Game

Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed during his press conference today that Jordan Pickford is unavailable for tomorrow’s game against Leeds. The Italian confirmed that Pickford picked up a “side injury” at the end of Saturday’s game with Newcastle.

Ancelotti is hopeful that his number one will be available for Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United. Swedish stopper Robin Olsen will play in Pickford’s absence.

Other notable absentees include Allan and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, although besides this, the squad is at full strength. Fabian Delph is back in the squad and in contention.

Squad complete following King addition

Ancelotti also discussed new signing Josh King. The 29-year-old Norwegian joined on a short-term deal from Bournemouth at the close of yesterday’s transfer window for a nominal fee.

Ancelotti discussed how the club considered bringing him in in the summer and his ability to play multiple positions will give him options.

He stated, “I think with his quality he will improve our squad as he can cover all the positions up front and has experience in the Premier League. I am happy to have him in the squad.”

King hasn’t been on the best of form, only scoring 3 goals this season all in the FA Cup, but his lack of goals haven’t put Everton off.

Ancelotti said of King, “We didn’t sign him to have more goals. We signed him to use his quality – he is a powerful, fast player – for this reason, not to score more goals,” he added.

“We signed him to have more options in front so with him we have more options. I’m not talking about goals. Of course we need goals but we have players who can score goals.”

The club will be hoping his addition strengthens their ambitions this season.
