Everton dealt major blow as Dominic Calvert-Lewin ‘re-injured’ ahead of Watford

Everton dealt major blow as Dominic Calvert-Lewin ‘re-injured’ ahead of Watford

Everton vs Watford

Everton are back in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees will play host to Watford at 3 pm UK time, as they look to get back to winning ways.

Everton enjoyed a bright start to the season. However, in part due to injury issues, they have since slipped down to 8th in the Premier League, after losing two, drawing one and winning just one of their last four.

Rafael Benitez’s men, though, still have a host of talented players on their books and probably fancy their chances of getting something against a floundering Watford side.

The Hornets are winless in four and Claudio Ranieri’s stint as manager got off to a nightmare start last weekend when they were smashed 5-0 by Liverpool.

Calvert-Lewin suffers another injury blow

Ahead of Saturday’s clash, Rafa Benitez spoke to the media on Friday.

When doing so, the Spaniard would provide updates on the fitness of several of his players.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are two of the Merseyside outfit’s biggest stars, but both have been out injured since before the October break.

Elsewhere, Abdoulaye Doucoure recently picked up an injury issue which looks set to see him sidelined for around six weeks.

And on Friday, Benitez spoke out over all three players. First, the Everton boss admitted that Calvert-Lewin could yet be out for another 4-5 weeks after picking up a fresh injury:

“We have some issues. Dominic has a re-injury. how long he will be out? We need to see. We will not see him for four or five weeks, maybe. I don’t like to put a timeframe on it.”

The latest on Richarlison was more positive:

“Obviously the match fitness is an issue but he is happy and available for visit of Watford.”

Then, regarding Doucoure, Benitez had the following to say:

“Doucoure is someone who has lots of energy? How can we replace him? With someone with the same passion and energy, hopefully.”
