Arsenal & Jack Wilshere
Another summer, another set of contract issues for Arsenal.
While the Gunners aren’t facing recent contract issues surrounding Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil anymore, this summer several big-named players will become free agents once again.
That includes Jack Wilshere, who has made it clear for a while that his objective is to sign a new deal.
The problem with Wilshere has been his fitness. Arsenal have previously offered the midfielder a new deal, in which his basic wages were reduced, while more financial weight was tied to game time and performance related pay.
So far Wilshere has yet to sign a new deal.
Everton provoke the Gunners into a better offer
In the Mirror on Tuesday, the race for Wilshere has been heated up.
Everton have done business with the Gunners in recent times, as Theo Walcott moved to Goodison Park in January.
Could Wilshere also be Everton bound?
The Mirror note that the Toffees, along with Wolves, AC Milan and Juventus, are all keen on picking up Wilshere for free. So what will Arsenal do? Journalist John Cross reports:
Wilshere has been involved in a stand-off with his boyhood club after their first new-contract proposal of £90,000 a week — a £20,000 per week pay-cut from his current deal which expires in the summer, although their package did include incentives and add-ons.
The Gunners have now made a better offer in a bid to see them come to agreement. It is believed this one is in excess of £100,000-a-week.
Will Wilshere sign the deal? The feeling is that he will.
