Everton are ‘on the way up’ claims Theo Walcott

After Everton picked up a 2-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday, Theo Walcott believes the Toffee’s will continue to improve throughout the season.

‘It’s nice to be in a winning team and I’m very pleased with the football we played’

Speaking after Leicester, Walcott stated:

“Looking back at the game, we did play some fantastic stuff.

“We worked really hard coming into the match after the disappointment [against Southampton] earlier in the week. So to come back and get the three points was important.

“We’re on 12 points now going into the international break – we’re on the way up. It’s nice to be in a winning team and I’m very pleased with the football we played.”

Walcott also commented upon Gylfi Sigurdsson’s superb strike vs Leicester City:

“The goal itself deserves to win the game – it was incredible.

 “His goals are brilliant.

“Gylfi practises every day in training. He’s the last one off the field so I’m not surprised at all [to see him score a goal like that].”

Everton vs Leicester

After being knocked out of the League Cup by Southampton earlier in the week, Everton will have been keen to bounce back vs Leicester on Saturday.

Marco Silva’s side would get off to the best possible start vs the Foxes as Richarlison put them 1-0 up after seven minutes.

However, Ricardo Pereira would equalise for Leicester in the 40th minute.

But thanks to the wonder goal from Sigurdsson that Walcott mentioned above, Everton would come away 2-1 winners.

Everton now sit 11th in the table after eight games having won three, drew three and lost two.

Everton’s next game after the international break will see them host Crystal Palace.
