Premier League battle for Ligue 1 starlet
Everton and Manchester City are set to battle over the summer signing of Lille starlet Boubakary Soumare according to reports on Friday afternoon.
It’s expected to be a busy summer for Marco Silva’s Everton with a number of key areas targeted.
It has been reported of late that Everton could sign up to as many as seven players in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, over at the Etihad, it will likely be a relatively quiet summer window for Pep Guardiola and his side.
While Manchester City are known for spending big on world-class talent, there’s only so much talent you can bring in.
However, that doesn’t mean they won’t sign anyone at all.
In fact, reports today have claimed Manchester City and Everton are battling over the signature of Boubakary Soumare.
The next Paul Pogba?
According to reports from L’Equipe and cited by GFFN, Man City and Everton are ‘competing’ to sign Soumare this summer.
After a brilliant season, Lille’s talented team of youngsters is set to fall apart from July onwards.
There’s been much talk about Nicolas Pepe leaving while Rafael Leao is another target for Everton.
Now, another talented youngster in Soumare has been linked with a move to either Man City or Everton.

Though, Lille have ‘zero intention’ of letting him go following his performances this season and his potential for the next campaign.
L’Equipe also claim that Watford and Newcastle United were interested in signing Soumare in January but the midfielder did not want to leave Lille.
Apart from that, details are pretty sparse in L’Equipe’s report.
One interesting subplot to this could be that Soumare is a replacement for Idrissa Gueye if he pushes for a move away from Everton this summer.
Only time will tell but both Man City and Everton fans will no doubt be keeping an eye on Soumare until the end of the season.
