Marcel Brands planning for the future
Everton have added highly-rated Lille striker Rafael Leao to their summer shortlist with the Toffees looking to solve their attacking woes.
The Toffees have had a pretty up and down season under Marco Silva.
The Portuguese boss came into the club during last summer with the hope of pushing for the top six and eventually top four with Everton.
However, the current campaign has not exactly given Everton fans the confidence their club can do that.
The Toffees went on an extremely poor run from December onwards but won their last game against Chelsea.
One of Everton’s problem positions comes in the striking role.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is currently the first choice striker and while he has potential, isn’t exactly good enough to be the catalyst for a top-four push.
Cenk Tosun is Everton’s second choice striker and its much of the same, though Calvert-Lewin offers more in terms of physical presence.
Richarlison can play up front but has been at his best on the wings.
Now, Everton may have found the man who could be what they need.
The next big thing at Everton?
That is because according to the Liverpool Echo, Everton have added Lille’s Rafael Leao to their summer shortlist.
The Echo, who are pretty reliable for Everton news, claim ‘officials are discussing the possibility’ of moving for Leao in the summer.
The 19-year-old has scored seven goals and assisted two in Ligue 1 this campaign.

That has made clubs like Everton stand up and take note ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Liverpool Echo don’t go into too many details over a potential move for Leao but they do give some more information on Everton’s striking situation.
According to their report, Everton will move for a second striker in the summer if they can offload Cenk Tosun.
Whether they can do that, or choose to, is yet to be seen.
