Erling Haaland names former Man City star as player he would trust with a penalty to save his life

The prolific striker has named ‘the best he’s ever seen’ from 12 yards

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has, on Friday, revealed whom he feels is the best under-pressure spot-kick specialist in world football.

The name of hitman Haaland has, of course, taken its place front and centre in the headlines across Europe over the early months of the campaign.

This comes with the Norwegian having dispelled any remaining doubters when it comes to his talents, courtesy of a record-setting start to life in English football.

All told, since linking up with Guardiola’s City in the summer, Haaland has taken to the pitch on 13 occasions.

And, across these appearances, the 22-year-old has racked up a staggering 20 goals, to go along with three assists.

As alluded to above, though, on Friday, Haaland has made use of the opportunity to lavish praise on another of the continent’s most recognisable frontmen.

The player in question? Mario Balotelli.

Speaking in an interview with Gary Neville for Sky Sports, the former Borussia Dortmund standout was drawn on which player from across the globe he would trust to take a penalty on which his life depended.

And Haaland, after first assuring that he would have ample confidence in himself, went on to label former City and Liverpool striker Balotelli as ‘the best I’ve seen take them’:

“Who would I trust with a penalty kick my life depended on? I have a lot of confidence in myself, but I would say also Balotelli, he is the best I’ve seen take them.”
