Where was Christian Eriksen?

Christian Eriksen has been one of Tottenham’s best players this season.

Even taking into account a slight drop in form after he singlehandedly dragged Denmark to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Eriksen has scored six Premier League goals and chipped in with seven assists.

However Eriksen missed the match through illness. As did Tottenham goalie Hugo Lloris.

Southampton vs Tottenham preview

It’s been a really tricky spell for Mauricio Pellegrino and his Saints side recently, as they are without a win in 10 and have slipped to within just one point of the bottom three.

The Argentine is now teetering on the point of losing his job, as he faces a tough task of turning Southampton’s fortunes around.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have been improving gradually as a disappointing draw with West Ham was followed up with an emphatic 4-0 win over Everton.

A man, along with Harry Kane, finally and rightfully getting the plaudits for Spurs is Heung-min Son who has managed a combined total of six goals and assists in just his last four appearances.

The last time these two sides met on Boxing Day, Kane ran riot netting a hat-trick and ending 2017 with a record 39 Premier League goals in a 5-2 win.
