English FA confirm stance on potential future meetings with Russia

The English Football Federation have released a statement on Sunday, confirming a hard stance against current developments in Russia.

The news of course comes amid a widespread backlash against Russia’s ongoing military invasion of Ukraine, stemming from Vladimir Putin’s decision to send troops into the separatist regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, and beyond.

This comes with both areas having seen their independence recognised by the Russian president on Monday.

The sporting world, in turn, is just one section of society to have quickly made their disgust with the situation clear, with the English FA, as alluded to above, having unveiled their stance late on Sunday evening.

In a post across the association's social media platforms, it has been confirmed that England will refuse to face off against their Russian counterparts at any level of football 'for the foreseeable future':

''Out of solidarity with the Ukraine and to wholeheartedly condemn the atrocities being committed by the Russian leadership, The FA can confirm that we won't play against Russia in any international fixtures for the foreseeable future. This includes any potential match at any level of senior, age group or para football.''
