Harry Kane celebrates England goal vs Spain

England vs Croatia betting tips: UEFA Nations League match preview and predictions

England vs Croatia prediction: England 2-1 Croatia

A massive Nations League decider at Wembley.

Both sides could still be relegated but amazingly both could still qualify for the UEFA Nations League finals in June.

It’s winner takes all so will Croatia be celebrating again or can England get revenge for the World Cup semi final?

England vs Croatia: Who will win?

This game could go either way.

England, with home advantage, are favourites at 10/11.

Croatia are 29/10 to repeat their semi-final from the summer.

A draw, which would see Croatia relegated, is 13/.5

Over 2.5 goals is 4/5.

Harry Kane hasn’t scored for England since the last 16 win over Colombia.

However, he’s 11/4 to score first and evens to net anytime.

Ante Rebić could be Croatia’s main goal threat. The Frankfurt forward is 8/1 to score first and 11/4 to net anytime.

Both Kane and Marcus Rashford to score is 9/2.

England vs Croatia: Match preview

England’s aim going into the Nations League was to keep the feel good factor going from the summer.

The bubble did burst a bit with the 2-1 home defeat to Spain back in September.

However, they had a chance to put that right when last month they travelled to Rijeka for the away match with Croatia.

This match will be most remembered for being played behind closed doors with the game itself finishing goalless.

However, three days later, over 50,000 packed into the Estadio Benito Villamarín and witnessed one of England’s greatest wins of the modern era.

A first half brace from Raheem Sterling as well as a goal for Marcus Rashford stunned the home support and England were three up at the interval.

Spain did get two back but England held on for a famous and vital win.

England warmed up for this game with a 3-0 win over the USA at Wembley on Thursday.

Jesse Lingard, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Callum Wilson getting the goals; Alexander-Arnold and Wilson netted their first international goals.

It will be a packed out Wembley, hoping to cheer their team into the Nations League finals?

Croatia to defeat England…. again?

Croatia’s Nations League campaign could hardly have started any worse.

The World Cup runners up were humbled 6-0 in Elche by Spain; a huge shock.

They did get their first point of the campaign in the reverse match with England at Stadion HNK Rijeka.

However, their season came to life on Thursday night in a thriller with Spain in Zagreb.

Andrej Kramarić and Tim Jedvaj gave them the lead twice but Spain pegged them back on both occasions and it was 2-2 going into added on time.

However, Jedvaj again headed in in the 93rd minute to clinch a famous win for Croatia.

This leaves the group wide open.

An England win means that they win the group and Croatia are relegated.

A Croatia win would see them qualify for the Nations League finals and England would be relegated.

A 0-0 draw, and Spain would top the group with Croatia relegated.

A score draw would again see Spain through but would see England relegated on the head to head rule.

It’s no World Cup semi-final but have no doubt about it, this really is a huge game.

Gareth Southgate rotated his side for Thursday’s win over USA but the majority of the side that started in Seville will be back.

Jordan Pickford has kept just 5 clean sheets in his 14 England caps but another in this one would be enough to see England stay up at least.

Trent Alexander-Arnold started and scored at right-back in midweek but Kyle Walker is likely to take his place.

Joe Gomez’s fitness is being assessed but he should be fit enough to partner John Stones with Harry Maguire out.

It’s hard to predict who’ll start at left-back though.

Ben Chilwell’s superb performance in Spain earned him a start on Thursday but Luke Shaw might come in.

Harry Winks and Ross Barkley played very well in Seville which should be enough to see them start again.

Eric Dier started that night but Jordan Henderson’s leadership qualities might work in his favour.

Dele Alli may feel hard done by if he is indeed left on the bench.

Jadon Sancho started his first England game on Thursday but the Borussia Dortmund winger may have to wait patiently on the bench in this one.

That’s because Raheem Sterling, who scored twice in Spain, and Marcus Rashford have both been in terrific form and are undroppable.

They’ll look to support Harry Kane who has not scored in his last 6 England games but will be looking to put that right.

This is a very strong team but does it have enough to beat Croatia?

This time.

Zlatko Dalić has had to deal with some high profile retirements since their appearance in the World Cup final.

First choice goalkeeper Danijel Subašić has retired so the vastly less experienced  Lovre Kalinić is their number 1 now.

They do also have injury problems in defence.

All three left-backs Josip Pivarić of Dynamo Kiev, Ivan Strinić of Milan, and Rangers’ Borna Barišić are all injured.

This meant that Tim Jedvaj, a centre-back by trade, covered there but scored twice on Thursday so will play out of position again.

Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren will win his fiftieth cap.

They will be without one of their superstar midfielders.

Ivan Rakitić has returned to Barcelona after getting injured on Thursday.

Luka Modrić, Mateo Kovačić and Marcelo Brozović will be in midfield and can boast 209 caps between them and containing those three will be England’s biggest challenge.

A challenge they failed to rise to in July.

Their front three also oozes class.

However, Mario Mandžukić, who scored 33 goals in 89 international matches, has left a void upfront after retiring.

However, Ante Rebić has been great form for Eintracht Frankfurt scoring 4 Bundesliga goals from the wing this season.

He, alongside Andrej Kramarić and Ivan Perišić, will certainly cause England problems.

As they proved in the summer, Croatia are a top team but can they repeat what their side did 11 years ago and leave Wembley with a win?
