Footage of England’s supporters taking aim at the Video Assistant Referee system during their side’s clash with Switzerland this evening has emerged online.
England secure shootout win
The Three Lions went head-to-head with Vladimir Petković’s men a short time ago, in the Nations League’s 3rd-place playoff.
Both sides fell to 3-1 defeats in their respective semi-finals earlier this week.
An extra-time collapse versus the Netherlands saw England put to the sword on Thursday night, a day after Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Portugal beyond the Swiss with a superb hat-trick.
As such, this evening’s playoff clash saw both sides head into proceedings eager for a bounce-back performance.
And England, to their credit, went on to largely dominate versus a disappointing Swiss outfit.
Gareth Southgate’s men, though, nevertheless failed to find the net over the course of the regulation 90 minutes, or half an hour of extra-time.
As such, proceedings were eventually decided by a penalty shootout, with Jordan Pickford having proven the hero to secure a 3rd-place finish for the Three Lions in the inaugural Nations League tournament.

As outlined above, few could have argued against England being deserving of their win, with the eventual victors have cracked the woodwork on 3 separate occasions over the course of the 120 minutes, and thoroughly dominated in extra-time.
In addition, the Three Lions had a late Callum Wilson goal ruled out by VAR, after the Bournemouth hitman was guilty of a foul in the buildup to his scrappy finish.
England’s fans, however, amid another frustrating day out, were not at all pleased with the VAR decision, as showcased below:
