England reach World Cup 2018!
True to form, England produced one of the most disappointing displays seen for some time on Thursday night at Wembley.
And, still reached the World Cup in Russia next summer…
The attendances at Wembley are getting smaller for every World Cup qualifier and against Slovenia it was not hard to see why.
England are crying out for a midfielder or real creative quality.
Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane are all in the midst of excellent club form.
But, the likes of Eric Dier, Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are just not good enough at elite international level.
The Ox in particular was woefully bad as he brought his club form from Liverpool to England.
Gareth Southgate took off Oxlade-Chamberlain for Jesse Lingard in the second half and the Three Lions did pick up in the final stages of the game.
Harry Kane wins it in injury time!
In the end it was left to Harry Kane to bag another big goal, in the 94th minute, for the winner.
Kane captained England and was thankful to Kyle Walker for a fine assist, capitalising on some (rare) poor goalkeeping by Jan Oblak.

By this time, England had already qualified for the World Cup as Scotland bagged a late goal to beat Slovakia.
Scotland also went second in Group F, which could be significant once the final fixtures are played next Sunday.
Joe Hart wins man of the match!
Perhaps because it was voted on before he scored the winner, Harry Kane did not win man of the match.
It was left to the Tottenham striker to give Joe Hart the award in the post match interview.
Hart did pull off a fine save late on. But, that was as good as it got from the West Ham keeper.
If ever a man of the match award summed up a poor display from England against a minnow at Wembley…
