Emery provides update on Koscielny ahead of Arsenal vs Brighton

Arsenal vs Brighton

Arsenal host Brighton this coming Sunday in a must-win tie.

The Gunners head into the game in 5th in the Premier League, two points behind 4th-placed Chelsea.

With just two league fixtures left to play, Arsenal need to win both ties to stand any real chance of making the top-four.

Of course, Arsenal may earn Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League.

They currently have a 3-1 lead heading into the second-leg of their semi-final vs Valencia.

However, this shouldn’t stop Unai Emery’s side trying to finish as high as possible in the league.

As for Brighton, they are four points above 18th-placed Cardiff City, meaning they are still not safe from relegation.

Koscielny may be rested

Arsenal’s last game was the 3-1 win over Valencia on Thursday.

After a slow start that showed Arsenal’s vulnerability from set pieces, the North London side did put on a solid display.

Unfortunately, Laurent Koscielny would be subbed off in the 82nd minute, looking rather fatigued.

Emery has since given an update on the Frenchman ahead of Brighton and the Valencia second-leg:

“I hope that he is going to be OK for Sunday and the [UEL] second leg away, but I don’t know.

“Laurent was very tired. He ran back with the transitions – 50 metres for a sprint [2nd half] – it’s normal that he can be tired or struggling.”
