The latest word stemming from the Spanish media today suggests that Eden Hazard will not be fit to line out in Real Madrid’s season opener versus Real Sociedad.
Real vs Real
Zinedine Zidane’s Blancos are set to get the defence of their La Liga crown underway this weekend.
The capital giants will make the trip to the Anoeta Stadium on Sunday night, for what is likely set to prove a testing matchup.
Sociedad, on the back of a solid campaign last time out, have since added the veteran talents of David Silva to the club’s exciting squad, an arrival which Imanol Alguacil’s men are no doubt hopeful will help to push the club into contention for a top-4 berth.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, will head into proceedings in San Sebastian with the aim of carrying forward their sparkling domestic form from last season’s run-in.
It is also worth noting, though, that Los Merengues’ last competitive fixture saw them ousted from the Champions League by Manchester City last month.
One individual who found himself singled out for particularly heavy criticism on the back of Real’s European exit was of course Eden Hazard.
Belgian international Hazard capped off an altogether disappointing debut campaign at the Bernabeu with a subdued display versus Man City, as fans of Los Blancos continue to be frustrated in their hopes of seeing the brilliant best of the club’s latest ‘Galactico’ signing.
And, as outlined above, if the latest media speculation is to be believed, then this wait looks set to drag on, for at least another week.
As per a report from Cadena Cope, Hazard is currently undergoing individualized training sessions, in a bid to fully recover from his latest ankle issue.
As a result, he is not expected to feature in Zinedine Zidane’s travelling squad to face Sociedad on Sunday:
