Eden Hazard has once again issued a come and get me plea to Real Madrid, and noted that while he is ‘happy’ at Chelsea, you never know what will happen in football, and he may well leave.
He also made it very clear that Zinedine Zidane is his idol, and of course the chance to work with him would appeal to the player.
While Chelsea may worry about that, they will also be aware of the fact Zidane could well be out of a job come the summer if Real Madrid end the season trophyless, which would be a boost in terms of keeping Hazard and convincing him to pen a new deal.
“In football you never know,” Hazard told Marca
“I’m happy at Chelsea, and focused on them.
“Of course it is, I remember 10 years ago when Zidane spoke about me for the first time, it was incredible.
“He was my idol when I was a boy, I’ve seen thousands of videos about him and now he is the manager of one of the best clubs in the world, so yes, it’s a luxury.
“But I don’t want to stop, I want to keep working and trying on the pitch and then yes, I love it when people talk about me well.”
Chelsea could well be facing losing their two best players this summer, with goalie Thibaut Courtois also making it very clear he would consider leaving the club for Real Madrid.
Should that happen, Chelsea are reportedly keen on Joe Hart, and while that may not be what the majority of their fans want to hear, it would make for an interesting situation should they try and buy the Manchester City stopper.
Of course, when the next Chelsea manager comes in this summer – or possibly sooner if Conte is sacked as many believe – they may have their own targets and wish list when it comes to the creative stars in the Chelsea side – as well as the goalkeepers.
