Hazard wants Madrid switch
Zinedine Zidane has once again taken charge of La Liga giants Real Madrid. He began his second stint in charge of Los Blancos with a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo.
As a result of Zidane returning to the Bernabeu, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is being heavily linked with a move to Spain.
Now, on Monday, Spanish outlet AS are reporting that Hazard has decided he wants to move to Madrid in the summer window.
Of course, it is not just up to Hazard if he moves but Chelsea will probably not want to keep hold of someone who does not want to play for the club.
No official asking price has been set for Hazard but AS are estimating a fee somewhere in the region of €100-120m.
Hazard’s current Chelsea deal runs until 2020. Unless he signs a new contract he would be available for free to foreign clubs as early as January 2020.
Eden Hazard impresses for Chelsea
AS have also suggested that Madrid could have moved for Hazard even if Zidane had not returned.
This is hardly surprising given the season the Belgian is having at Stamford Bridge.
In 29 Premier League appearances this season, Hazard has netted 13 times and assisted 11.
While Hazard is having one of his best seasons in the Premier League, Chelsea are struggling.
They are currently 6th in the league and if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, it will be even harder to convince Hazard to stay.
