Eden Hazard free to leave Chelsea if he wants claims Maurizio Sarri

Could Hazard leave Chelsea in the summer?

Chelsea boss Maurizio has claimed that Eden Hazard is free to leave the club if he wants to amid rumours of a move to Real Madrid.

The Belgian star’s future at Chelsea has been in question for quite a while now.

Hazard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for several years but with his contract set to expire in 2020, those rumours are intensifying.

Back in October, Hazard suggested that he simply hasn’t made a decision on his future.

He claimed that sometimes he wants to stay and sometimes he wants to go.

“In my head, sometimes I wake up in the morning and think I want to go,” he explained, as quoted by the Telegraph.

“Sometimes I think I want to stay. It is a hard decision. It is my future. I am 27 and I will turn 28 in January.”

Rumours have continued since then and there have been suggestions the player is edging closer to a move.

Now, Sarri has commented on Hazard’s future.

“If he wants to go, I think he has to go”

Speaking ahead of the clash with Bournemouth, Sarri suggested he and Chelsea wouldn’t stand in Hazard’s way if he wanted to leave.

After being asked about Callum Hudson-Odoi’s situation at the club, Sarri explained it was different with Hazard.

“The situation of Eden is different,” he explained as quoted by Sky Sports.

“Eden is 28. If he wants to go, I think he has to go.

“Of course, I hope the opposite, I hope he wants to stay here.

“He has the potential to be the best player in Europe at the moment.”

Hudson-Odoi & Emerson: Chelsea fans react to line-up vs Bournemouth

Chelsea would have hoped that Callum Hudson-Odoi was the heir to Hazard’s throne.

While that could still be the case, the worry is that Hudson-Odoi could leave for Bayern Munich.

Those fears were not calmed when the team news was announced for the Bournemouth clash.
