Olivier Giroud has made his admiration of Nabil Fekir very clear, and noted that both himself and Eden Hazard have spoken to the midfielder.
He noted that Fekir would be great at Chelsea, and that while it may not happen before the window closes on Thursday, it’s certainly something he would like to see.
“I spoke to him when we were together in the French national team, when his move to Liverpool fell through,” Giroud told Foot Mercato.
“Then we discussed Chelsea, and I even think that Eden said a couple of words to him.
“We would obviously welcome him, he is a super player, but I don’t know if this is something that could happen as the window closes on Thursday.”
Chelsea may miss out on Fekir, but one boost they will be getting is with the fact Eden Hazard looks set to stay with the club.
Hazard had been heavily linked with a move away, and after the uncertainty surrounding Thibaut Courtois, it seemed he could follow the stopper out of the door, yet manager Sarri has made it clear there are no issues, and any problems or doubts Hazard may have felt have certainly gone in recent weeks, with the player now set to be the star who Sarri builds his team around.
Sarri spoke about the player and said: “We didn’t talk about his future. We talked about, ‘Can I arrive back Monday instead of Sunday’.
