Idrissa Gueye v Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard admits Chelsea’s big mistake before Liverpool

Liverpool v Chelsea

The stand-out Premier League match of the weekend sees Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield.

Chelsea have had one days less rest, but Liverpool will be low on confidence after letting a three-goal lead slip in Sevilla.

With four clean sheets in their last five matches, Chelsea may be considered slight favourites, despite being away from home.

Liverpool, however, have only let in one goal in their last eight Premier League matches at Anfield.

Eden Hazard & Mohamed Salah

Belgian star Eden Hazard has been speaking ahead of the Liverpool game.

And, in quotes circulated in Friday’s Guardian, Hazard has answered questions on whether Chelsea made a big mistake over Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool signed Salah from Roma in the summer for 35 million pounds. That already looks a bargain as the Egyptian has scored 14 goals for the Reds already.

According to Hazard, it’s now clear that Chelsea never Salah a real opportunity to shine at Stamford Bridge. He said:

He is still my friend and we are still in contact.

He’s a top, top, top player. He did not get his chance at Chelsea – maybe because of the manager, because of the other players? I don’t know.

He has quality but in that period I remember we had me, Willian, Oscar, so for him it was not easy. But he’s a top player, for sure, and we know as a team the quality he has.

He is a fantastic striker and this season he has scored a lot of goals. It is always good to play against a friend but Liverpool is not only about Salah. They have a lot of quality players.

Hazard also confirmed that he intends to swap shirts with Salah after Saturday’s match at Anfield.
