Eddie Howe gives Bournemouth injury update ahead of Southampton

Southampton vs Bournemouth

Bournemouth travel to Southampton on Sunday in a 3 pm kick-off.

The Cherries head into the game in 14th place on 41 points, meaning their season is pretty much over as they have reached the magic 40 point mark.

Despite this, Eddie Howe has insisted his side are eager to end the season on a high:

“For us it’s so important for us to end the season strongly, we are hugely motivated to get the result.”

Southampton, however, will be hoping their opponents on Saturday have started planning their summers.

This is because the Saints are still embroiled in the relegation dog fight.

They are 16th in the league, six points above 18th place Cardiff.

Bournemouth injury update

Ahead of the Southampton tie, Eddie Howe has provided an injury update on his squad.

Junior Stanislas was injured in the Cherries’ 1-0 defeat to Fulham last weekend.

Howe now expects Stanislas to be out for at least three months:

“Junior Stanislas could be out for three to four months, it’s a big blow for us.”

Adam Smith will also be absent in Southampton but his injury is said to be a lot less serious:

“Adam Smith will also definitely be missing tomorrow, but we’re hopeful it’s not too serious.”
