Dynamo Kiev vs Chelsea betting tips: UEFA Europa League last 16 preview & predictions

Dynamo Kiev vs Chelsea prediction: Dynamo Kiev 1-2 Chelsea

First leg score: Chelsea 3-0 Dynamo Kiev

After a comfortable first leg in London, Chelsea head east looking to finish the job.

Goals from Pedro, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi last Thursday saw Chelsea to an easy 3-0 victory.

Will they finish the job at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium?

Dynamo Kiev vs Chelsea: Who will win?

Dynamo are 13/5 to put right last week’s result with a win here.

Even that might not be enough though.

Chelsea are 11/10 to repeat their win from the first leg.

A draw, which Chelsea would probably take now, is 23/10.

The Ukrainian side are 20/1 to somehow get through to the quarter-finals; Chelsea are 1/200.

In this game, over 2.5 goals is 11/10 and both teams to score is 5/6.

Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals is 5/2.

Slovenian international Benjamin Verbič is back for Dynamo. He’s 13/2 to score first and 11/4 to net anytime.

Olivier Giroud has 6 goals in 8 UEFA Europa League appearances this season. The French World Cup winner is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 15/8 to make that 7 in 9.

Callum Hudson-Odoi got his fifth Chelsea goal in the first leg. The teenager is 6/1 to score first and 13/5 to score anytime.

Both Giroud and Hudson-Odoi to score is 9/1.

Both Willian and Giroud to score is 12/1.

Both Verbič and Giroud to score is also 12/1.

Dynamo Kiev vs Chelsea : Match preview

Is Dynamo’s European campaign coming to an end?

They had to come through two rounds of qualifying to get into the group stages so this is their 14th continental match of the season.

However, the 3-0 defeat in London suggests it’s likely to be their last.

But Alyaksandr Khatskevich’s side are still eying up domestic silverware this season.

They did win the Ukrainian Super Cup in July but have their eyes on big prizes to come.

Sunday’s 4-0 win over local rivals Arsenal Kiev means they remain second in the Ukrainian Premier League, 7 points behind Shakhtar Donetsk.

They’ll also face the league leaders in the quarter-finals of the Cup in 3 weeks time too so still very much to play for.

Not too much to play for here though but they’ll be desperate to put up a fight for an expectant home crowd.

Mateo Kovacic

On their way to Baku?

As for Chelsea, could this be their best route into next season’s Champions League?

Their top 4 hopes took a blow at the weekend after a 1-1 home draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

They remain sixth in the Premier League, 3 points behind Arsenal in fourth but Chelsea do have a game in hand.

In this competition, they’ve won 8 of their 9 games, only failing to win a dead rubber in Hungary against MOL Vidi.

Maurizio Sarri can, almost, be looking ahead to the next round but his side must finish the job here first.

Despite it looking unlikely that they’ll turn this around, Alyaksandr Khatskevich rested some key players at the weekend.

He’s expected to make 4 changes for this match.

First choice goalkeeper Denys Boyko will come back in.

He was a runner up in the UEFA Europa League with Dnipro in 2015.

At right-back, Tomasz Kędziora is a doubt after missing the weekend’s match with a virus.

First choice Croatian international left-back Josip Pivarić is still out injured.

In midfield, Vitaliy Buyalskyi is suspended after getting booked at Stamford Bridge.

Tomasz Kędziora and Denys Harmash are both one booking away from missing an unlikely looking quarter-final.

Benjamin Verbič is back from a suspension of his own which kept him out of the first leg.

Up front, Fran Sol, who’s shone since joining from Willem II in January, is out with a shoulder injury.

20 year old forward Nazariy Rusyn will deputise.

Can this XI pull off one of the most unexpected comebacks in European football history?

It seems very unlikely.

As for Chelsea, with the tie all but over, Maurizio Sarri is expected to have one eye on Sunday’s trip to Goodison Park.

He’s expected to make 7 changes from the side that drew with Wolves on Sunday.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to keep his place in goal.

He’s kept 5 clean sheets in 7 Europa League appearances this season.

In defence, Marcos Alonso will start as Emerson Palmieri appears to be the first choice left-back in the league now.

Andreas Christensen and Davide Zappacosta will come in for Antonio Rüdiger and César Azpilicueta.

In midfield, Jorginho and Mateo Kovačić are likely to keep their places.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek could start for just the 11th time in all competitions.

That’s from a potential 50 games.

Further forward, Callum Hudson-Odoi could also start.

Willian and the UEFA Europa League’s second top scorer Olivier Giroud will make up the attack.

N’Golo Kanté and Eden Hazard will likely be left at home.

Surely this’ll be another easy win for the Blues won’t it?
