Liverpool to sign another Dutch defender
European champions Liverpool are closing in on the signing of 17-year-old Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg.
A wide range of sources have confirmed the move on Tuesday, including the Daily Telegraph.
According to Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, Sepp van den Berg will undergo a Liverpool medical on Wednesday.
Liverpool, of course, already boast Dutchman Virgil van Dijk in the centre of their defence. They also have other Dutch players in their first team squad including Georginio Wijnaldum and Ki Hoever.
Liverpool see off major competition to sign Sepp van den Berg
According to Law, Liverpool were competing with the likes of Ajax and Bayern Munich to sign Sepp van den Berg.
Just 17, Sepp van den Berg will be Liverpool’s first signing of the summer. This comes after a campaign where they won the Champions League and bagged 97 points in the Premier League, coming second.
Sepp van den Berg had just one year left on his contract at PEC Zwolle, and will cost Liverpool 1.79 million pounds.
After playing over 20 times for PEC Zwolle over the last two seasons, Sepp van den Berg has emerged as a serious prospect, not just in Holland but across Europe as well.

Despite the obvious talent shown by Sepp van den Berg, it seems likely that the youngster will be on the fringes of Liverpool’s first-team squad from the start of the new season.
