Duncan Castles: Brendan Rodgers wants Man United job over Leicester

Brendan Rodgers & Leicester City

By all accounts Brendan Rodgers is set to return to the Premier League with Leicester City.

Leicester are looking for a new manager having sacked Claude Puel.

Celtic are on course for another domestic treble, however it seems that the allure of top flight English football is too much for Rodgers to resist.

Duncan Castles: Rodgers wants Man United

However according to journalist Duncan Castles, Rodgers would prefer to be Man United’s manager.

United are also on the lookout for a new permanent boss after sacking Jose Mourinho.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said the following about Rodgers:

I understand that the job he really feels he would like to have, or felt in the past that he would like to have in the game is the Manchester United job, which gives you a sense of how he regards himself as a coach.

I understand that he would have reservations about Leicester City for similar reasons and I think he can believe he can get back to higher level in the English game.

Castles made those comments on Monday, a day before the Leicester City story revved up.

What about Chelsea?

Another talking point around Rodgers is whether Chelsea should make a move for the Northern Ireland coach.

Rodgers was a coach at Chelsea before he started his managerial career.

Some believe that Rodgers would be a good replacement for Maurizio Sarri.
