Mario Gotze v Jan Vertonghen
Spurs fans were fuming at the end of their excellent win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.
Goals from Heung Min Son and a brace by Harry Kane had secured a fine Champions League win for Tottenham at Wembley.
However, there was one sour note as Jan Vertonghen received his marching orders from referee Gianluca Rocchi.
Initially, it looked like Vertonghen had been handed a straight red card but this has been clarified by UEFA as two yellows.
As a result, Vertonghen misses the next Champions League game at APOEL, but will be available for two matches versus Real Madrid.
Mario Gotze is actually injured!
Vertonghen looked far from happy with his sending off, and many Spurs fans were in agreement that he barely touched Mario Gotze.
However, Bild report on Thursday that Gotze is in fact seriously injured from his clash with Vertonghen.
After the game, Dortmund coach Peter Bosz confirmed: “He has problems with his teeth and will need to go to the dentist. That does not look so good. Not all his teeth are in the right place. It hurts when he talks about it.”
Gotze set for a dentist visit
Gotze was spotted after the Champions League game at Wembley with a swollen lip and an ice bag on his mouth.
Bild add that on arrival back in Dortmund on Thursday, Gotze will go to a dentist and will likely have plenty of work done on his teeth.
This is a blow for Gotze who has only just come back from a metabolic problem that saw him miss the second half of last season.
Borussia Dortmund face FC Cologne on Sunday evening. Their opponents are also in London today, as they prepare to face Arsenal in the Europa League.
