Dortmund provide updates on Sancho & Reus ahead of Man City

Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic has provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of the club’s upcoming showdown with Manchester City.

Foden strikes late

BVB are of course set to return to action in a little over 24 hours’ time, on the European stage.

The Bundesliga giants will play host to Manchester City, in the 2nd of two highly anticipated Champions League quarter-final clashes.

As things stand, it is the Premier League champions-in-waiting who boast the advantage, on the back of a 2-1 victory at the Etihad last week.

After Marco Reus cancelled out Kevin De Bruyne’s first-half opener, Phil Foden stepped up with just minutes remaining, to notch what could prove to be a vital goal in Man City’s pursuit of European glory:

Dortmund, though, despite the heartbreaking nature of their defeat in Manchester, will likely fancy their chances of an upset on Wednesday.

This comes with the Germans, to the surprise of many, having gone toe-to-toe with Pep Guardiola’s men last time out, and of course in possession of an away goal.

Sancho ruled out

In turn, ahead of what will no doubt prove to be a thoroughly entertaining affair, Edin Terzic this afternoon held his pre-City press conference.

The BVB boss was drawn on a host of topics, the most noteworthy of which came in the form of a fitness update on his squad.

Dortmund, like so many of Europe’s top clubs, have been forced to deal with a number of personnel concerns of late, with Jadon Sancho just one of those to have missed out at the Etihad last week.

And Terzic went on to confirm that the English international has not yet recovered, with Sancho therefore set to watch on from the sidelines once again against his former club:

‘Jadon won’t be at our disposal. He trained again, he is doing his best, we would like to have him available but he won’t be. We have to take our time with him.’

Jadon Sancho

Updates were also provided on Marco Reus and Mats Hummels, both of whom were forced off during Dortmund’s hard-fought win at Stuttgart over the weekend.

And though the key duo, unlike Sancho, have not yet been definitively ruled out, both will require late fitness tests ahead of tomorrow’s clash:

‘There are a few slightly injured. We will have to wait. Marco Reus and Mats Hummels needed to be substituted and leave the pitch on Saturday.’

‘We have another training session and we will see who will be at our disposal.’
