Dortmund chief hints club are eyeing replacements for Man United-linked Sancho: ‘One or two players we are targeting’

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has recently suggested that the German outfit are already making contingency plans for the departure of Jadon Sancho.

Dortmund standout

Sancho joined BVB back in 2017, when he departed Premier League powerhouse Manchester City.

Since making the switch to Germany, Sancho has earned a name as one of European football’s brightest young stars.

Despite having only turned 20 in March, the winger represents one of the Bundesliga’s top attackers.

The 2018/19 campaign saw the former Watford youth notch 12 goals and 17 assists in 34 league outings, with Sancho having improved on that sensational tally this past season, when he racked up 17 goals and 17 assists in two fewer league appearances.

Dortmund eyeing replacements for Man United-linked Sancho

Such exploits have, reportedly, piqued the interest of Manchester United.

The Manchester powerhouse have been linked with the wide-man for some time now, with it recently claimed that the Red Devils have agreed, in principle, a five-year contract with Sancho.

And now, as mentioned above, it seems as though Dortmund are beginning to plan for life post-Sancho.

BVB sporting director Michael Zorc recently conducted an interview with German outlet Kicker.

During the interview, Zorc stated that if Sancho were to leave, Dortmund would ‘do something in the offensive area’, before adding that the club have already identified ‘one or two’ targets:

“If Jadon left, we would do something again in the offensive area.

“There are certainly one or two players we are targeting.”

Dortmund’s chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watzke, also recently spoke to Kicker about the transfer market, including the scenario in which the Bundesliga giants decide to sell Sancho this summer:

“When you don’t have a billionaire or a state backing you up, then you need to be careful how you invest your money.

“We don’t have an end date for corona, without that we simply have no planning security. Should we sell Sancho, then every player will cost 5-10million euros more. We have nothing to give away.”
