Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss Everton’s trip to Wolves with Richarlison also a doubt
Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is out and Richarlison is a doubt for Everton’s trip to Wolves this week.
Ancelotti confirms Calvert-Lewin injury
Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed a huge blow for Everton as they approach their match with Wolves looking to continue their push for Champions League qualification. Top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss the match due to a hamstring problem.
“Pickford is OK. Richarlison, we have to wait until training today to make a decision. Calvert–Lewin is not available. Hamstring problem. No [timeframe], I think soon he can recover. Allan, I think he can return in around 10-15 days,” said the Italian coach.

“He had a little problem during the week before West Ham, but for the fact he has never had this kind of injury he wasn’t able to judge himself. We want to keep him safe and, when he comes back, to be 100%,” Ancelotti added.
“With an important player like Dominic, we have to be able to replace him in a different way. We have to adapt for this, for sure we will be less dangerous on crosses but perhaps we can be more dangerous with the final pass.”
Tosun’s importance
If the Toffees are without both Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, this could leave Ancelotti with a striking problem and down to his backup option of Cenk Tosun who scored in Everton’s FA Cup 3rd round win against Rotherham.
Ancelotti spoke about how the Turkish international will help them in the weeks to follow with injuries rife.
“Cenk did well against Rotherham, he was focused in the box. He was out for a long time, his condition is not at the top, but of course it will be useful to have a striker who is used to scoring goals.”
Ancelotti also commented on the suggested controversial celebration of the forward. “I think the FA checked this. No further action, so we move on.”

Celebrations, in general, have been scrutinised due to their close contact between players and the increasing of stricter measures by the Premier League to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“Honestly there’s no rule that says you’re not allowed to celebrate. We’re really strict to follow the rules the Premier League put in place. We wear mask in the dressing room, we try to keep social distance. If they tell us not to celebrate, we won’t”
Everton travel to Wolves for an 8:15 pm. kick off on Tuesday.
