Bale tackle on John O'Shea

Didi Hamann among many appalled by Gareth Bale’s behaviour vs Ireland

Coleman’s ghastly injury

Gareth Bale is one of the best players in the world. This cannot be doubted.

But his behaviour during Wales’ World Cup Qualifier against Ireland left a lot to be desired. Didi Hamann was among those appalled by the Real Madrid player.

The biggest talking point of the goalless draw was the horror tackle on Seamus Coleman by Neil Taylor.

It left Coleman with a badly broken leg but Bale still appealed the ref’s decision while the Everton right-back was being taken away on a stretcher. The lack of concern Welsh players showed for Coleman’s well-being was disappointing. Observers might have said that such a ghastly incident was coming.

The game had a recklessness to it.

Bale’s potential leg-breaker

Glen Whelan was guilty of an elbow on his Stoke team-mate Joe Allen but Wales were flying into potentially leg-breaking tackles. Didi Hamann called for Bale to be given a red card for his tackle on John O’Shea. He wasn’t alone.

Bale caught O’Shea on the calf and was very lucky to not have injured his opponent.

It all left a bad taste in the mouth. Irish fans aired their feelings on Twitter.
