Details of Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi’s meeting with Ramsey revealed

No part in the clubs long-term plans

Details of the meeting between Aaron Ramsey and Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi have been revealed as the Welshman was told he has no future at the club.

It was reported earlier on Wednesday by Sky Sports that Aaron Ramsey would almost certainly be leaving Arsenal next summer.

The midfielder’s contract is set to expire in the next off-season.

There had been much talk about his contract situation for weeks now but now the decision has been made to cut ties.

Now, details of the meeting between Ramsey and Arsenal have been revealed.

Ready for a new direction

That is because the Daily Mirror have revealed the meeting took place late last week after Arsenal’s clash with Lisbon in the Europa League.

Ramsey started that game in which the Gunners won 1-0 thanks to a Danny Welbeck goal.

The Mirror report that late that week, Ramsey sat down with Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi.

They claim that the reason why Arsenal were willing to let him go was that the clubs hierarchy are ‘electing to head in a different direction – and Ramsey doesn’t feature in their plans.’

That was then relayed to Ramsey, with Arsenal officials telling the midfielder he ‘simply doesn’t fit into the club’s long-term plans.’

Finally, the Mirror claim that there is no way back for Ramsey, but he will still be used this season.

They claim:

“Ramsey has been told in no uncertain terms that there is no way back and he has no long-term future at Arsenal – although he will continue to be used by Unai Emery before his departure.”
