An in-depth analysis of Mikel Arteta’s proposed Arsenal arrival (Video)

Respected Arsenal fan James, who runs the popular Youtube and Twitter account Gunnerblog, has this afternoon released a video, in which he provides an in-depth discussion regarding the pros and cons of the club possibly appointing Mikel Arteta to replace Arsene Wenger.

Farewell

As has been the talk of world football over the last couple of weeks, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed on the 20th of April that he is set to bring his 22-year spell in charge of the capital outfit to an end this summer:

Candidates

Following on from the flood of tributes from players, managers and pundits alike, thanking Wenger for what he has done for the game and wishing him well with his future endeavours, the other big story in the English media has surrounded who could be set to replace the Frenchman in North London this summer.

The likes of Brendan Rodgers, Carlo Ancelotti, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Thomas Tuchel, Mikel Arteta, Luis Enrique and Max Allegri have all been touted as potential arrivals at the Emirates, with previous favourite Allegri having seemingly ruled himself out of the running for the job last Sunday night, after Juventus secured their 7th-straight Scudetto title and 4th-straight domestic double with a 0-0 draw at Roma.

‘If they don’t fire me, I see myself as staying at Juventus next year too‘, the Italian tactician explained during his post-match press conference.

Front-runner

As such, the last 3 days have seen the other hotly-tipped favourite to take over the reigns at the Emirates, in the form of Mikel Arteta, pushed as the clear front-runner to succeed Arsene Wenger in North London.

A report from the Independent earlier this week even went as far as to claim that Arteta is so eager to make a return to the club, that he has ‘already thought up plans for his backroom staff’ at the Emirates.

And highly-respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has since backed the claims that Arteta is the clear ‘favourite’ for the Gunners’ bench, adding that the former club captain is ‘very confident’ of his chances of replacing Arsene Wenger.

Weighing up the pros and cons

While the potential appointment of Arteta has unsurprisingly split the opinions of Arsenal fans the world over, many of whom were eager to see a big-name tactician with a proven track-record arrive in North London, Gunnerblog has this afternoon opened up on what he feels as though could be the positive and negative connotations of Arteta’s potential appointment, in the in-depth clip below:
