Delph & Baines: Marco Silva gives Everton injury update before Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace vs Everton

Everton’s 2019/20 Premier League campaign begins away to Crystal Palace.

The Toffees came so close to earning Europa League football last season, missing out by just three points.

However, after the transfer window Everton have had, their fans will likely be hopeful of having a better league finish this time around.

Some of Everton’s notable signings were Moise Kean, Alex Iwobi and Andre Gomes.

As for Crystal Palace, they finished last season in 12th spot, but their home record wasn’t great.

They did manage to keep hold of Wilfried Zaha, with Everton one of the clubs to have been linked with the attacker.

However, Zaha is said to be devastated at not being allowed to leave.

Everton injury update

Heading into Everton’s first game of the season, Marco Silva was asked about injuries during his pre-Palace press conference.

Silva spoke briefly, but did give updates on Leighton Baines and Fabian Delph.

The Everton boss stated that Baines begun working with his squad this week, but new signing Delph will miss the clash:

“Leighton [Baines] started working with me in the middle of this week. Let’s see what will be my decision about him. Fabian Delph will be out.”
