Dejan Lovren reveals his punishment for mistakes before Southampton

Dejan Lovren on self punishment

Sky Sports have a new interview with Liverpool centre-half Dejan Lovren on Sunday.

Lovren is hoping to be in Liverpool’s XI when the Reds take on Southampton in the Premier League.

Many often criticise Lovren for not being good enough.

For example last weekend in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham, while Lovren generally performed well, a lapse in concentration at the very end of the game allow Harry Kane to avoid being flagged offside.

In his interview with Sky, Lovren has revealed how harsh is in on himself. The Liverpool defender said:

I’m my biggest critic of myself when I make mistakes.

I don’t talk to anyone for a couple of days – this is me. This is the punishment for myself.

What do other people think? I’m not bothered. What’s important is what the manager says because he is the man in charge of me.

Southampton vs Liverpool

Virgil Van Dijk returns to St Mary’s for the first time since his January move to Anfield.

Sadio Mane, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren will also be returning to their former club.

Jurgen Klopp’s team are fighting for a place in the top four but were held at home by Tottenham in a controversial 2-2 draw last Sunday.

The Reds have had a strange start to 2018, becoming the first team to beat Man City in the Premier League this season before losing to Swansea and West from in successive matches.

Southampton claimed a vital win away at West Brom last weekend in their quest for Premier League survival .

The Saints are undefeated in their last 6 matches and are capable of pulling off a shock result but, on paper, it looks like Liverpool should win this match comfortably and that is what we have predicted.
