Marko Arnautovic is someone who has impressed of late, and despite a hard start to the season following his move from Stoke and subsequent falling out with Mark Hughes, the player is currently setting about proving everyone wrong, and has been impressive this season.
David Moyes has admitted he thinks there is more to come from the player, and that he can be even more important for the Hammers.
He wrote in his column for Standard Sport:
‘Arnie’ was also terrific. There are those who believe he could play at the top level but he needs to show what he can do against the best.
I want more from him, though, and somewhere along the line Arnie has to decide whether he wants to be pushed further. He was at Inter Milan as a young player and if he wants to again be considered as one of that standard he needs to allow the manager and the coaches to push him.
I firmly believe he has another level he can go to but, even so, he’s a real key player for us.
The Hammers are currently sat in 14th position in the table on 33 points, and while that’s certainly going in the right direction, the table is so tight down at the bottom it could still be the case that they find themselves right back in the mix for the drop.
Moyes has maintained that any talk of a new contract with the club will have to wait until the end of the season, and when everyone knows just where they stand, and if they do stay up, it seems the manager will pen a new deal and stay.
