David Luiz trying to force through Arsenal move
Chelsea defender David Luiz reportedly trained away from the first team on Wednesday, amid attempts to force through a move to Arsenal.
Central defence is somewhat of a problem position for Frank Lampard.
Chelsea’s current options include Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma, David Luiz and Fikayo Tomori.
Tomori could be loaned out, Rudiger is currently out with an injury and David Luiz is now looking to leave the Blues.
Will Luiz get his way?
According to the Telegraph and various other outlets, David Luiz did not train with the Blues’ first team on Wednesday afternoon.
That supposedly comes amid interest from Arsenal, with Luiz having previously worked under Unai Emery at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Telegraph’s report claims that ‘Luiz has made it clear he wants to go following a series of fall-outs over the past week.’
While the report doesn’t expand on those fall-outs, the Telegraph explains ‘it is understood there have been a number of fall-outs in the background surrounding the central defender.’
As a result of those fall-outs, Chelsea are supposedly open to letting the Brazilian leave.
It’s also said that Lampard is ‘unlikely to consider’ Luiz for his side if he remains at Chelsea.
Interestingly, that goes against what Sky Sports claim.
While Sky back the Telegraph’s claim of a fall out this morning, they suggest that ‘Chelsea are reluctant to let him leave for the Emirates Stadium given their current transfer ban.’
With under 24 hours remaining in the transfer window, Arsenal will have to move fast to get a deal done.
