Enjoying life

Chelsea defender David Luiz has claimed he’s loving life under Maurizio Sarri.

The Brazilian struggled in the last few months of Antonio Conte’s time at the club.

Luiz had injury issues and also fell out with the manager.

However, since Sarri arrived, Luiz has been a key part of the Chelsea defence and someone who has been ever present.

He spoke with Chelsea and said“First of all he’s a great person, great as a human.

“I believe in this philosophy, and then after that he is a great coach. He wants to play with the ball, he wants to play with intensity, to work on the details and to give us all the information he can about the next game and the opponent.

“Every week he tries to make the best plan possible for the exact game and this is great because he is working in the best way for the team, for the collective.”

Conte issues

Luiz wasn’t the only player Conte had issues with.

Willian was another player who was cast out under Conte, and was thought to be on the verge of leaving.

However, after Chelsea fired the Italian and got Sarri in, the majority of the players seemed far happier than they were before.

Aims and ambitions for Chelsea

Sarri will of course know that Chelsea expect success.

The first aim this season will be to get back into the top four of the Premier League.

That’s something Chelsea missed out on last season, and will of course now face the Europa League because of that.

The slog on a Thursday night may cost them in terms of the title challenge, as many other teams have found before.
