Big news on the contract front
It may not have been the greatest of nights for Manchester United on Tuesday but there is some positive news for fans on Wednesday.
That is because there have been updates on potential new contracts for David De Gea and Ashley Young.
Starting with De Gea, the Spanish goalkeeper’s deal was set to expire this coming summer before Manchester United activated their option to extend his deal for another year.
That means that De Gea would be free to leave Manchester United at the end of next season.
With Ashley Young, he is one of several players who could leave Manchester United for free this summer.
Young, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are all out of contract come July.
Now, there have been some pretty big updates on contract talks with David Ge Gea and Ashley Young.
Moving closer to securing their future?
That is because according to the Evening Standard, Ashley Young has been offered a new one-year deal.
That comes after Juan Mata was offered a new deal by Man United.
It is said that the length of their deals reflect their age, with Young 33 years old and Mata 30.
According to the Standard, neither deals have been accepted yet.
Even with deals for Young and Mata on the table, David De Gea remains the priority according to the same source.
They claim that Manchester United’s Ed Woodward is determined to get a deal done before the start of next season.
It is also said that Man United are ‘facing up to the prospect’ of offering De Gea a deal worth ‘more than £300,000-a-week.’
