Danny Ings & Mario Lemina: Southampton injury updates vs Brighton

Brighton vs Southampton

Brighton host Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Brighton are 15th in the league with 33 points from 29 games.

Southampton are 16th in the division, three points behind the Seagulls.

Both sides remain in the relegation mix-up, while Saints are obviously in a more precarious position.

Southampton are just two points above the drop zone.

Danny Ings & Mario Lemina

Ralph Hasenhüttl faced the press on Thursday before the Brighton game to issue a series of injury updates.

In good news for the Saints, striker Danny Ings could be in line for a return to action.

Ings has been sidelined for the past two months. Hasenhüttl suggested the striker could be in the starting XI.

The need to usher Ings back into the team may be influenced by problems elsewhere.

Hasenhüttl confirmed that forward Michael Obafemi is out for the rest of the season.

Obafemi has a hamstring injury.

Also on the sidelines is Shane Long.

The Irish international has a groin problem, although it doesn’t seem too serious.

Finally, midfielder Mario Lemina could finally return to action against the Seagulls.

Lemina hasn’t featured for Southampton in 2019.
