Daley Blind offers opinion on Jose Mourinho after leaving Man United

Mourinho is a great manager

Jose Mourinho might not be a firm favourite with some of his squad, but one former Man United player made it very clear how much he loves the manager.

Daiily Blind has of course left Man United for Ajax, but spoke about Mourinho in glowing terms.

He noted that plenty of trophies were won during his time at Man United, and that he worked well with Mourinho.

The Express report Blind said: “I learned a lot from him. He is a winner. And he can project that very well on a group.

“I almost played 150 matches. I won four trophies at United.

“I had a very beautiful time. I had many nice moments there.

“I am very grateful to the fans. I worked very nice[ly] with Mourinho.”

Mourinho paid a glowing tribute to Blind

Mourinho wasn’t slow to make his feelings about Blind known, and said that he was sad to see the player leave.

Given how highly Mourinho values work-rate and a player being professional, it’s no surprise to see him note that about Blind.

The United manager may have a frosty relationship with some of his players, yet with Blind, there was clearly a lot of affection.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Daley Blind for everything he has done for the club since he joined in 2014,” Mourinho told ManUtd.com.

“I have to say, that in my 18 years of management, Daley is the one of the most professional players, both on and off the pitch, that I have had the pleasure to work with.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the very best as he rejoins his boyhood club, Ajax.

“And I would also like to thank him for from the bottom of my heart for his commitment and dedication over the past two seasons.”

Man United aims

As they go into the new season, Man United will want to make sure they win as many games as possible.

Liverpool and Manchester City may be the favourites for the title, but United’s players are trying their very best to do what they can this season.

Marcus Rashford was one of a number of players who took to Instagram on the opening weekend of the season, to note how happy he was at being back on the field.
