Crystal Palace’s James McArthur may have nightmares after West Ham

Crystal Palace 1 – West Ham 1

The points were shared at Selhurst Park on Saturday when West Ham visited Crystal Palace.

The Hammers broke the deadlock in south London from the penalty spot.

Mark Noble slotted home the spot-kick after Michail Antonio had been fouled by Palace keeper Vicente Guaita.

The Eagles levelled in the 76th minute through Wilfried Zaha.

Crystal Palace are 13th in the Premier League with 27 points, while West Ham are 10th on 33 points.

James McArthur missed a sitter vs West Ham

Many Palace fans will have left the West Ham thinking of two dropped points.

The Eagles carved out several goalscoring opportunities against the Irons.

None were as clean-cut as they chance which opened up for James McArthur.

McArthur broke into the West Ham box, and he had all the time in the world to pick his spot.

Not only could McArthur shoot on target, but he also had two team mates free in the box next to him.

Yet, when faced against Lukasz Fabianski, McArthur dragged his shot wide of the near post.

McArthur will surely have nightmares about that miss.

What Roy Hodgson said

The Palace manager was naturally disappointed the Eagles didn’t convert their chances:

If you don’t miss chances, and we took every chance we got, every game would end 10-8.

But I was disappointed in them. I really did think with the James McArthur one and the Michy Batshuayi one we were definitely going to score.
